The Sisters of Mercy arrived in Bunbury in 1883, as local representatives for the Perth Convent.

They set up a New School which started with 105 students.

The Bunbury Sisters of Mercy were applauded annually by the Press for their contribution to Musical Education.

Examiners from London assessed the Bunbury Music students with high commendation.

The unique concrete-covered burial Plots of the deceased Sisters of Mercy are located adjacent to the first burial in the Bunbury General Cemetery, and are prominent on the landscape of Roman Catholic Section C.
